Valentine's Day was celebrated last night since Cory's dad and step mom are in town tonight. we went to dinner at Clemetine's and had a lovely meal. i always love that place, though i was less impressed this visit than usual. my expectations may have been a little high. we each had mushroom soup. Corinne had the duck with very, very delicious spinach. i had the scallops with the tiniest portion of risotto (tasty but disappointingly small). i ordered a very good bottle of Bordeaux that came with an equally "very" price tag. (i don't usually order expensive bottles of wine but this was a special occasion and the bottle more than lived up to its recommendation.) we each had a dessert -- her the french toast and me the chocolate cake. mine was again tasty but unfortunately small. hers was delicious.

i gave her my gift just before dessert came and it made her cry. the good kind of cry. she bought me Godiva chocolates which didn't make me cry but which my stomach will enjoy quite happily and think of her. we lingered quite a while after dessert, just sitting and talking. and after dinner we took a drive through town and talked about love and life. first Saint Valentine's Day i can remember that was just beautiful.
