so we're going to Conneticut for Corinne's friend's wedding in June and since we're going all that way, we decided to stay a couple nights in NYC beforehand. i searched a million hotels, read a million reviews, and finally decided on a place to stay. i reserved a rental car to get us to Westchester and figured out how we were going to deal with our luggage and the car on the way back. it wasn't going to be cheap but it was planned. then Susan (a.k.a. "the bride") did us two huge favors that saved us about $500.
one, she suggested we take the train up to Westchester since we were going to be staying at the Yacht club where the wedding was being held and wouldn't need a car once we were up there. ($150 - train tickets) and two, she offered up her old apartment which her parents own and is currently furnished but unoccupied, and which, according to Corinne, is very nice and right near NYU. ($400) plus, our flight leaves around ten p.m. on Sunday night and we weren't sure what we were going to do with our luggage. now, we can just stick it in the apartment while we going spend another day in the city.
dude, the bride rocks.
we plan on spending a portion of the money saved on expensive food and other indulgencies.
