October 17, 2007: " We're off to Italy... "

The wedding was lovely but now it's time to travel. We'll be posting at our new travel journal while we're gone, assuming computer access is easy. If you don't hear from us, it means we've become Luddites and taken up ravioli eating as a way of life.

Ciao!

I'm married. :)

October 13, 2007: " Wedding Day "

It's here. The day I get hitched to that lovely girl Corinne. It's finally here.

Today, the sun is beaming. Not a cloud in the sky. The view of the City from our hotel room is marvelous. I can hear a couple sea gulls squawking out on the Bay. The masts from moored sailboats rock with the gentle waves. What a day.

Yesterday, it poured. Over an inch of rain in a fairly random storm. There's one coming in early next week. But not today. After nearly hourly checks of the weather forecast for the past couple week, the day's here and it's a beaut!

Last night, we ate and drank with many family and friends at Fog City Diner for rehearsal dinner. It was fun to see all the people who connected and liked talking to each other. One of the most amusing surprises was Thom and Corinne's mom who became B.F.F. before the entrees were served.

My favorite part of the evening was talking with Paul and David, my dad's brothers, who I never spent much time with growing up. David, especially, told me of great scotches and days when the Indians were good. (It was a while ago...) We'd also spent time with Karl, my dad's friend from back in the Big Sur hippie days, on Thursday, and heard hilarious stories from a lovely man. The wedding has been awesome for finding new bonds or reminding us of ones we already had. Loving it.

But, today's the day. I'm not nervous. Well ... a little. Mostly about not looking like a doof up in front of everyone. I think my suit will help. While not the most formal or the most elegant, it looks damn good on. I tried on the complete outfit for the first time Monday or Tuesday and I look, as Corinne said, "like James Bond." Sweet.

There's so much more I'd like to tell (it's been a very full week) but that's enough of the computer. It's time to be present and centered and conscious of the moment. What a day...

October 01, 2007

I have read sfgate.com as my primary news source for some time now and today I realized that might be a mistake -- they have lost their way.

While the New York Times is reporting on the Blackwater killings, SFGate has put Britney Spears' post-marital child custody woes front and center for most of the day. The Rockies and the Padres played an amazing 13-inning spectacular of a game for the NL Wild Card and all SFGate had was a tiny one-liner in 8-point font below "Bank Teller Thwarts Robber With Candy".

Are you kidding me?? Is this news? Does this affect our lives in anyway whatsoever? I've defended them in the past because they generally cover the local angle pretty well but this is too much. Boo.
